Health benefits – Most plans cover hospitalization, doctors´ visits, inpatient / outpatient surgery, medications, rehabilitation care, and diagnostic testing. The better plans offer annual exams, chiropractic care, and alternative medicine.

Many individuals under 65 who are moving to Mexico have an Obamacare plan (ACA = Affordable Care Act) or an employer-sponsored plan. They normally request a catastrophic plan, because they are used to paying high premiums. I explain to them that the cost of full-cover, full-term health insurance plans are generally less expensive in Mexico even when considering a plan with coverage in Mexico and the US.
Those who want to only cover major accidents and illnesses can make their health plan catastrophic by choosing a higher annual deductible amount.
Individuals over 65 who have Medicare coverage & / or are on a fixed retirement income normally choose a WEA Expat Health plan, which offers the most affordable health insurance rates coupled with very comprehensive health benefits.
